Pushing a commercial barge I guess, and is that a soccer or American football pitch.
Hienz is best known for baked beans in tomato sauce in the UK , what about on your side of the world
I've just read a number of Wikipedia articles about the stadium, the Three Rivers Stadium, and the Immaculate Reception play. My-my, such drama! I'll definitely think of your picture next season when football gets underway again.
I had forgotten that they had demolished Three River Stadium - this is awesome looking - almost like it should rise and fly. The Steelers have quite a home on the Ohio River. Interesting that you refer to the boat as a Pushboat - never heard that term before - but that's what it does for sure. We always call them tugboats - tugging I think should be pulling - not pushing. Neat catch to get it centered there.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your wonderful comments! :) I enjoyed my afternoon in the heart of Pittsburgh!
@lsquared Yes, Larry...this was, indeed, taken from Point State Park. The weather was beautiful. It felt like Spring even though it's mid-February!
@skipt07 Yes, Skip, I spent the afternoon in the heart of the city. What a beautiful afternoon it was!
@philcameron59 Heinz Field is our city's football stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I never knew Heinz was best known for baked beans in tomato sauce in the UK. How interesting! Here, Heinz is best known for ketchup. Their corporate headquarters is here in Pittsburgh (just a few blocks from where this picture was taken).
@daisymiller I so appreciate you taking the time to comment, Daisy!
@mittens I really did enjoy my day in downtown Pittsburgh. What a beautiful city we have, yes?
@ckwiseman I appreciate your interest so much, Carolyn! I was standing where the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers meet when I snapped this shot.
@lyndemc I appreciate your interest in Pittsburgh's football history...what an amazing history it is! Heinz Field is also the site of many concerts and fun events!
@milaniet Yes, the stadium being located along the river is a real treat! I know what you mean about pushboat versus tugboat. I had to read up on the subject before posting this picture!
@dsp2 Yes, the view of the water from Heinz Field is spectacular and vice versa!
@skstein Such kind words from you, Sandy...so appreciated!
