Thank you, Lord, for the Eastern Box Turtle lumbering across the driveway.
Eastern Box Turtles hibernate in the soft, damp soil of our woodlands and woodland edges; and we see them occasionally in Summer as they travel about. Red eyes tell us only males crossed our paths thus far. A brown-eyed female would be an unusual and welcome sight.
