Thank you, Lord, for our two peony bushes — and for how they came to be.
On a Summer night shortly after we moved in, she showed up with a plastic bag of muddy roots, said she'd been dividing her perennials and thought we could use some peonies for our new garden. When Johnny's baseball years ended, I lost touch with this thoughtful Mom of one of his teammates; but I think of her each time I see our two beautiful peony bushes. I love snipping the big, heavy blooms to enjoy indoors. Arlene's act of kindness delights us year after year! Perhaps a pretty card with a note of "thanks again" showing up in her mailbox after all this time is in order? Yes!
