I took Angus over to my Mum and Dad's for the day today. He spent most of the day with my Dad who used to play a lot of jazz when I was a child. He even got him to play a bit of guitar which is something I haven't seen him do for about ten years due to his arthritis. I think that they both had a really lovely time and Angus, who has recently developed an interest in jazz music came home with all of my Dad's vinyl records. Hundreds of them, who knows where they will all go?
My Dad cannot believe that he would want them given that you can in his words 'listen to anything that you want to with the touch of a few buttons on Youtube.' When I went to bed tonight I heard strains of Porgy and Bess coming from Angus' bedroom.
Great shot love the composition. Ahh the love of jazz. I wanted to learn to play guitar many years ago and my tutor pushed me into jazz. At the time very painful but know I can see and hear why he did it. Re the vinyl for some music it still has a magic about it. I love blues and that on vinyl is brilliant.
@padlock Actually it is blues that Angus has really got into, I even found him teaching himself some chord sequences on the piano the other day. My Dad's collection does have some blues, but mostly jazz, bossa nova etc, a lot of which he bought in South America.
Your dad & Angus have good taste & I love that the two of them had a great bonding day...your dad would have enjoyed reminiscing & Angus could never know the pleasure he gave that day to both of them!
love your nosy sheep specially the long legged one with the inquisitive face on the right...she looks a real character!!
I'm impressed. Most teenagers wouldn't know what to do with a vinyl record and certainly wouldn't be playing Porgy and Bess. Ellen wanted to go for an audition for 'The Voice', but it clashes with her weekend art workshop which I've already paid for and am unwilling to cancel for something which is very much a longshot - especially because she doesn't want to be a singer - she wants to be a showjumper. Meanwhile Edward has decided he wants to be a rugby player. I fear neither of them will be keeping me in my old age.
@dh She can always do it another year if she is still keen. My niece did the first season's audition and got through the first few rounds to the one just before you get onto TV. She starts at LIPA in September doing Musical Theatre. A showjumper and a rugby player in the family eh, you never know, they might be famous one day.
Lots of humour and laughter in this shot! Great expression on their faces - love the ears on the dark faced one!
So glad that Angus is taking an interest in jazz and listening to old records. Good for him!
Aww - fab bit of inter-genrational bonding. Now I'm wondering if it's too early to put some vinyl on. Fab sheep shot - you've reminded me I must see what @fueast is up to...
LOve the expressions on the sheep...especially the one in the back...she looks ready to go after you!
There is nothing like vinyl for some recordings....and it sounds like a magical day.
@pasadenarose thanks. The unsheared ones are this year's lambs. I don't think they have enough wool to make it worthwhile to shear them. Poor sheep, they are still feeding from her even thought hey are almost as big as her.

It's all about the vinyl these days.
Too funny.
Do you know why only one sheep has been sheared? She seems a bit humiliated by it. ;-)
