garrya elliptica - a fighter

At the end of last year's horrible winter I was planning a replacement for this tree because it looked pretty dead. Instead it has fought back to give us the best display yet this year

What a wonderful DOF to this image! Those flower tassels are quite unreal. Sometimes getting hard hit by cold does make plants really come out fighting :-)

How Beautiful! What kind of tree is that if you dont mind me asking it looks so healthy and alive now...I have never seen such a Beautiful bloom on a tree...Great capture!

@ellimae @marisagaler It is a Garrya, which is also called a Silk Tassle Bush. Not native to the UK but to the warm temperate regions of North America.

@tracysl No smell unfortunately, just adds a bit of interest to the garden at a boring time of year.
