This coming weekend is Rhododendron Days in Florence. Our major celebration here. The center point is wild rhododendrons which are my favorite, but this purple beauty caught my eye as I walked on the path to our house this afternoon
I have a red one which is flowering this year for the first time in ages - I'm guessing it's pleased that it's had some rain this year. Your purple is a beauty.
@judithg I fell really hard directly on it at Zion NP on hardened earth that was like pavement. It swelled hugely and I suspected either a broken patella or torn ligament or some such. Couldn't put any weight on it. So we turned around a week early from our vacation. Went to orthopedist in eugene on Monday...thankfully no break, not sure yet re meniscal tear. Am resting and icing and really missing hiking around for shots. Recheck in eugene on Monday. It is improving so I'm hoping conservative treatment will be sufficient
@jgpittenger Well that's something though a real pain it happening in the first place. At least knee arthroscopy is well developed if the worst comes to the worst.
