Today was Maple Sunday in Maine so I took a ride to Maple Moon Farm. The is just around the s-curve in yesterday's picture. Did I not say this was a fabulous road. I have tried to take pictures of from the road but not very successfully so was delighted to get on the property for Maple Sunday. I am afraid it may be a week of pictures from this photo ride. A sugar house is where they boil the sap into a syrup ( a very yummy syrup). Sugar bush is the term for the land on which the maple trees which are tapped grow. It takes between 40-50 gallons of sap to make one quart of maple syrup. I brought syrup, sugar, maple butter and maple coated almonds. Some thing for me and some for my sister.
A great shot of the sugar shack. Lots of snow to brighten things up. We also have lots of maple syrup events and they are always a lot of fun to attend.
This is marvelous - so much action. Thought I caught the tip of a roof (this one?) in yesterday's shot and wondered what it belonged to. The colors here are terrific against the snow.
@milaniet No this is further done the road and deeper in the woods. That is a home. But it is next door to the "old house" except there is sugar bush in between. This road is becoming the most famous in Lebanon. LOL 365ers coming the Maine will be asking directions to Chick Road. Enough of my silliness.
love the textures and undulations in the whiter than white snow..
the produce sounds real scrummy - my mouth is salivating now.. lucky sister too.. great light and PoV.. a fine image..
There is a maple syrup farm near here too- I will have to check their website to see what's going on as they too have a special day when you can come and see the maple syrup being made. Nice shot!
