It's been quite the day. I had a bat in the house again. It ended up locked up in the bathroom. So my nephew came over to capture and remove it - turns out there were two. And for an old lady I can scream quite loudly. But before I went to get my nephew I looked out and saw the first hummingbird I have seen at my feeder. I ran for my camera and took this from a distance because as soon as I get close the birds fly away. And the hummingbird flew when I moved in closer. But happy dancing any way. We found the spot the bats are getting in and I saw a hummingbird.
When I was a kid less than 10, a bat got into our house one night while we were all sleeping. All I remember was my mom yelling, "there's a bat!" and my dad running around in his underwear with a broom or something trying to get it out. It makes me laugh just thinking about it! Hopefully you'll be able to laugh about it later!!
Sorry you and Two had such a traumatic day. Sure hope the hole is plugged and you will not see anymore bats in the house. So glad you finally had a HB at your feeder!
@vignouse Hard to focus when your screaming and throwing your hands in the air. Everyone has an Achilles heel and mine is bats. Not throwing anything just wishing you a visit from French cousins of mine. Yvon is deaf now when one flew by.
@joansmor Do what I do - copy your comment, delete it then paste it back into the empty comments box and make the changes you want, then confirm the comment. It adds one to the comment count but at least you end up saying what you wanted to say and in a literate manner.
Eeek!!!! A bat!! A mouse with wings!! Horrors!!! You were brave to stay there and get this one shot. I found a dead one in my office when I moved some papers last summer and freaked out. A live one -- egad!
I was just thinking what a nice picture this is, and then I read you title. I went "huh"? Anytime you can get a shot of hummer it is a good thing. I love the comp and the light in the background.
