One of the perks of working at Arundel Castle during Joust Week is the chance to try the "have a go" activities. After trying axe throwing on Wednesday, my fellow guide, Chris and I had a go on the quintain practice "horse". We each had three runs and the object is to catch two rings on the end of the lance and to hit the shield. Great fun!
@bill_gk I remember asking one of the re-enactors why he wasn't joining in the joust and he said he'd been taken to the A & E Department at Chichester the day before, as he'd broken a couple of ribs fighting in the hand to hand combat!
