St. Andrew by the Ford by josiegilbert

St. Andrew by the Ford

This is the church of St. Andrew by the Ford near Arundel in West Sussex. Parts of it date back to Saxon times, with later medieval additions. It still has no mains electricity, just a small generator to provide light for the choir during services. There are still a few traces of medieval wall paintings inside, but they don't photograph well. Apologies for the sky, but it was overcast all day.
A beautiful solid looking building.

Wonderful old church and great that it still is a church. So many of our older ones have closed as a church and they try to sell them!

@maggiemae I think they only have one service a month, as they share the vicar with a couple of other parishes. As you say, it is a pity so many have closed. Even if you don't have any religious beliefs, they are still full of history.
