Banksy ??? by joysabin

Banksy ???

This small work is in another alley in Flag, maybe I'm spending too much time in alleys lately? It has the feel of a 'Banksy'. This is the back side of the old historic jail which now a bookstore-go figure?
Looks good on black too. Nicely observed. What is wrong with hanging about in alleys, so long as you don't get arrested!!!

Did you try different crops? Just got one of the lower 2/3rds - accidentally found it scrolling down & I think it might be stronger - but difficult to tell for sure!

I love the way the bars of the (ex-) jail stand out & the juxtaposition of the meerkat and hog against the snow. Looks like the hog is snuffling through it!

It does look good on black. Is it "hog assisting meerkat's escape"?

@lizhammond I did try cropping out the top but I lost the light - wanted that but the snow at the bottom was there because it was that high- we had 30+ inches recently and it hadn't melted yet. I have do earlier shots of this one but I liked the ice and snow in b&w. I think that I needed to move a bit to get the top part at a different angle so, maybe next snow fall.

@sketch2 Thanks, those two have intrigued me for a couple of years- been down that alley more than once. I am going to try a different angle to see it I can get a more interesting POV. I haven't seen another mural or building art like these two in Flag so I need to go down more alleys.

If the back alleys looked like that where I lived, I'd be in them too. Love seeing the icicles, I like the contrast, it brings out the textures of the building.

@joysabin always easy to come up with ideas when you are not the one shooting (normally balanced on one foot leaning on a shaky fence to get the best angle you can without damaging yourself - or is that just me?)!

The snow is essential as it really does look to me like the hog is having a good old root around in it

@juleshoogstraanderson Thanks, really appreciate you noticing the icicles- the alleys in downtown Flagstaff are a much safer bet for the pedestrian - streets are so busy and crazy.

I like this especially since the building is historic. Glad to see the building is being used. Better used as a bookstore rather than adult store.

@nydelignorsk Thanks, we have just a couple of used book stores in town and I treasure them.
