Q is quarters and frustration.....

I first started out with Quark- the particle. Didn't realize that it is sub-atomic and can't be seem by us mere humans. How do I show an invisible particle? In my google search about Quarks, I also found a dairy product by the same name, ( https://en.wikipedia.org/)wiki/Quark_(dairy_product), Cool, I thought, Whole Foods sells this. Alas, not in Flagstaff. The poor cheese clerk thought that maybe I meant a meat of some sort. No, I meant the German cheese product. He'd never heard of it. Defeated with my 'Q' idea I went home and started over.
I settled on quarters- old ones. So here you go, old 90% silver coins from the 1940's.

I make my own keiffer so, if anyone knows a good recipe for Quark, please let me know.
@stephanies Q is a tough one but I haven't given up my search for the dairy one.

Quark - yes, in German, "Quark" is the term for an intermediate product in cheese production. In Austria you say "Topfen". You call also something "Topfen", which has failed and is annoying.
Quark I give to my muesli (oatmeal, milk, fruit - and Topfen) every day.

Very nice quarters!

Once again I learned something from your post. I've seen Quark here, in stores, but I thought it was just a brand of creamy cottage cheese...didn't realize it was a whole different product.

@annied Thank you, I would still like to taste Quark so I asked my sister in LA to see if the big city has it, somewhere.
@jerome I still hope to try Topfen someday but isolated Flagstaff isn't the place. @gardencat Eating better (aka healthier) is a challenge but gotta keep trying.

I really like the different textures, very well captured.

We've had a currency change here in the UK since the 40s - this has inspired me to dig out some old coins myself....

Interesting to see these coins, I am ofcourse curious to know what is on the other side! I think I have seen quark here in the supermarkets, but I have never bought it or even tried it I don't think.. I make kefir too!! Fancy that! Both milk and the water kind.. I would have no idea about using quark to make kefir though... I use organic semi-skimmed.. I would use raw milk if it was easy to get hold of and more economically priced. My dogs LOVE kefir!

@francoise Even older than me, :) @andywallis They are fun to have and work with. I look forward to your shots. @stephanies There is an eagle on the other side., nothing too special. Never heard of water keifer- gonna try that.
I am taking a week off from my alphabet and do the One Night Stand ( http://365project.org/discuss/general/28137/let-s-get-it-on-one-night-stand-11) I am going back to the letters after Sunday.

You did end up getting a cool capture of these quarters. I like the textures and different tones each one has.

@cjphoto Thank you. I almost bagged this day but pulled out the unabridged dictionary and went searching. Old worn coins really have much more character than the uncirculated ones. (these are only worth about $3.65 each because of the silver content)
