@beatricekocina Thank you so much. I shot on white opaque flexiglass to begin with. I layered a 2nd image of the torn paper on top in Photoshop, I believe a I used multiply blending mode then used color efex and used a pro-contrast preset. I recently found a book that you might find helpful ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/294037385X/?coliid=I56X0DGTTG3VX&colid=E2BL4QPTE7GT&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it ). If your camera has a B&W setting I might start there. If not, think in contrasts and pre-visualize how you want your final image to be. This tutorial on YouTube might also help. If you don't have Photoshop, you can try this free software ( getpaint.net ) it's easy to learn and fun too. Good luck and keep playing/learning.
