It would be pretty simple to just include nothing but portraits of Diego each day for this 365. The kid is super photogenic, what with those amazing eyes of his and that crazy expressive face, but that wouldn’t really visually tell the story of his days from age one to two. So I often will choose odd shots that are perhaps not the best of him, but are still intriguing and tell a more visual tale. Here’s one of those, a moment captured in late afternoon during one of the many walks we take with our son and our dog, Oso. Under a storm-broke sky, the boy learns how to control the leash of his dog with instruction by his loving mom. It’s a great moment, painted with dramatic lighting and I love the shot for the composition and mood, but mostly for the memory it will always preserve.
