As the sun set on this day, Diego surveyed ongoing work in our backyard to clean up other projects that have brought in a parade of construction vehicles. Yet here he was regaling me with a silly soliloquy on the state of his shoes, laughing and smiling while standing in tread tracks and surrendering daylight. I know it’s probably nothing special to most, but I love the framing, color, and focus of this shot. Mixed with Diego’s silly expression and my wonderful memory of his clowning around, it makes for a perfect photo; the kind you think back on years later that pulls you into time travel. So you can hear that laugh again. So you can feel that sun again.
