More and more, moments like this sweet one with Justin reading to Diego are beginning to become the norm around this house. It took me about twenty minutes to find my favorite shot from Christmas Eve this year, and most of the options involved these two interacting. Games of chase, playful wrestling, sitting and watching TV and yes, reading, are all things the boys now do together (but especially that chase game, which is really like hide-n-seek on adrenaline). Both of my kids love books, a love everyone in their lives foster regularly through birthday and Christmas gifts, nighttime routines, and regular amounts of storytelling in general. To see how fond Diego is of books due to his mother’s constant efforts is wonderfully heartening. To see him being read to by his older brother made my Christmas Eve one of the most beautiful ever. Reading is crucial to a life well-lived and well-considered. I hope they keep it up!
