Always growing

It seems like yesterday that he couldn’t walk, last week since he couldn’t speak. It feels like it was a month ago that he could sit and his head wasn’t anywhere near the coffee table lip. I remember as vividly as my morning coffee his bald spots and pronounced hemangioma. Yet here and now he is tall and talkative, stubborn and hilarious, demanding and sweet, a toddler in full often narrowly missing the sharp edges of the kitchen countertop (and sadly, too often hitting them.) Here he slouched to avoid the knock on his head, a smile at play on his milk-slathered mouth as he looked for his daddy to put down his camera and join him at some kind of play. So big already. Such a sign of the advancing speed of time’s passage.
