I have been trying to find out what this little bug is. We were surrounded by them when walking through some woodland. If anyone knows I'd love some I.D.

@peadar Thanks Peter, I don't know if it's the same genus but I have been advised that it's a St Marks Fly looking on Google that certainly seems likely.

It may be something called a black long legged fly - laphria.
