I've driven past this scene quite a few times and thought I'd like to photograph it so I took the chance and walked Monty on a circular route while Adam was at hockey. The exhibition has been on for a while at The Fitzwilliam and it examines the role of the artists 'dummy'. This particular face is porcelain I presume and is really a work of art in itself. Unfortunately, it finished today and we somehow didn't get chance to look round which is a real shame.
In 'Extras' I am posting a photo of a kingfisher (or possibly queenfisher - I need to look back because last time I posted one I was told it was female). It was sitting down by the water on Coe Fen and gave me a few chances as I went back to let the immovable Monty off the lead (at least he didn't bark) and then I messed about trying to get the focus right as I crept up on it. And then in the blink of an eye it was gone.
Instant fav! When in Paris over x mas and New Years I developed an obsession with old world street shots that I cannot do in my American suburban life . I miss that about my trip! So many photo ops, so little time. This is wonderful.
I love this Judith! I assume you waited for the two to walk by... I love this sort of shot with the interplay between the people and the scene. If you like this sort of shot maybe you would like to check out Andy's work (@candidzen) if you haven't seen it.
Couldn't agree more. Great idea to scout it out and to come back and complete the task. That's something I have forced myself to do over the past year, you too probably right? Instead of saying "One day I am going to shoot that" ... just freaking do it! And this is an awesome image. It's so cool that you included the walkers.
Oh, what a marvelous composition. I love all of the wonderful components of this image. The pedestrians couldn't be more perfect with their timing and their appearance. I just love this! An absolute fav!
Brilliant processing, and you've successfully combined an olde worlde feeling (especially with that pair striding out in the background), with the poster advertising the current exhibition.
I love the way the woman on the poster seems to be watching the role on the street as if they are silent partners. Very surreal - big sister is watching you. Fav
The sign and the windows are the same sort of shape and pull them together. Bike sign so handy, got to be a bike somewhere! The people are such a bonus too. Great composition.
