I've called this firework because I've been trying all summer to remember it's actual name. I have planted a variety of colours over the years and they are really the best thing in the garden at the moment. A'level results day today and I'm not sorry that it's the last one I have to deal with - mind you my mum had 3 different grandchildren to worry about so I suppose I may not be out of the woods entirely. I was less stressed than most because even I couldn't convince myself that Adam may not have got C in Art which is what he needed - I'm sure it would help the admin if they just gave unconditional offers. I had, however, just dreamed that he had got worse grades than he hoped for and decided that I needed to 're-dream' the scenario and be more supportive when he appeared (at about 6am) with a big smile and all was well. Difficult times for some of his friends though which weighs on all them - they are a very nice group and they want everybody to be happy.
I with my lack of knowledge would have said Montbretia too. You didn't find out until 6pm! Well done Adam & amazing changes for him in Seoember....the big smoke! Going to London seems much more adventurous than Manchestervwhere Lydia is going! Glad you said that about grandparents, you are right we worry just as much...well almost so you're not out of the woods yet!
@countrylassie@happypat Crocosmia is what I've been searching for - all I could think was 'Lucifer' which is the dark red one. We must have all been on the gin on Wednesday night! 6am Pat - first thing thank goodness!
@happypat btw Lydia has really enjoyed her extra year, no regrets now about missing out last year. She earned lots of money & had a real break & is more mature to leave home. Mum was glad she hadn't two, leaving the nest at once too. Adams friends will regroup & all get to do what they set out to do even if it might mean waiting.
That is definitely a crocosmia, and not only they are lovely plants with beautiful flowers, but they also attract hummingbirds!! Congrats to Adam for such stellar results.....I guess he did not inherit the artistic gene from you, though! ;-))
