A beautiful chilly day for a walk around Hemingford Grey and Hemingford Abbots. Both are lovely villages by the RIver Great Ouse and there are some very old and expensive houses to covet along the way. The photo is of the rather pretty decor around the door of St James' Church in Hemingford Grey - the inside looked lovely too but we didn't venture in with the dog.
The Manor House at Hemingford Grey was built in the 1130's and is reputedly the oldest continuously inhabited house in the country. Lucy Boston wrote about the house and garden in her 'House at Greene Knowe' books in the 1950's. She was always generous in showing interested children around the house and her daughter still does tours every afternoon in May (or by appointment at other times) and the garden is open every day. Note to self - go on a tour!!
I have stayed at H Grey...maybe it was H Abbots... years ago while filming for Anglia. Had a lovely meal in a pub nearby.......
Lovely shot Judith, great detail.
Lovely shot as always :) In case you didn't realise, this is @katharinehubbard in a new guise! After an aborted attempt to rejoin 365 last year, Pete and I have decided to give it a go properly for 2017. Looking forward to gorgeous Cambridge shots, although hope it won't make me too homesick! K :)
