Back of beyond

A Gnarley old Puriri tree, seen when we were out the 'Back of Beyond'.. A beautiful old tree that has stood the test of time, ( and wind)..

This is a lovely shot of the great tree! Puriri must be one of the hardest woods on the planet. We once had a 100 year old cottage and the underfloor piles were made of puriri and still good!

not familiar with this tree but it has a great sense of character, doesnt it?

@maggiemae You are right there Maggie, we have some fence post's on the farm that have really stood the test on time, some with the 'post and rail.. hole in them.. @ianrm It is a native of NZ Ian Vitex Lucens..

excellent. I have my eye on a couple of old wind blown trees but need to be there in the right light
