Today I went for a walk with my Sister, and I had a look through different eye's at Our little town.. Waiuku. ... Est 1843 as a port town to service the Farming community, Situated 40 Kms Southwest of Auckland and the Upper most point of the Manukau Harbour on the Waiuku River.
The Kentish Hotel is renowned as being the longest continuously licensed Hotel in the Country.
Population is around 6,500. With the main employer being New Zealand Steel.. seen in the upper right image at the top of the estuary. But still largely a farming community.
Waiuku means... Wai.. water Uku... mud..
