Goat Farming.. by julzmaioro

Goat Farming..

Today @dide and I visited a goat farm.. This farm has been converted from a tradition Dairy farm to goats over the last couple of years. At the moment they are milking 600 goats and hope to grow the herd to 1000 over the next year or so.. They have converted the cow Rotary shed to handle the goats .. The goats are very contented and love the attention of having their photo's taken... A lot cleaner than cows .. with not getting wee'd or poo'd on,,, Perhaps Farmer George could be swayed to convert...
A lovely set of images - they were so friendly - and did love to chew shirts! Not entirely sure that farmer George will be easily swayed to change to goats…..

A great subject for a collage. The brown one looks pretty friendly, hope she didn't take the shirts off your backs!

Great collage and as you say cleaner than cows. We lived in Cyprus for 3 years and we saw lots of goats out there. Not many cows though. Their main source of milk and cheese was from goats or sheep.

We know some dairy farmers in Te Aroha that have a large goat herd, doing really well too. Rather have cows myself.......I think goats can be a bit smelly! Great collage Julz........

@happypat Country Calendar this week was about Goat Farmers in Te Aroha., they made their own cheese as well,, they were a Dutch family. I don't think there would be any fear of George changing camps..

@julzmaioro interesting will hope we get a copy of that next Chrustmas!! Not the same family that we know, they only have cows & goats & it's only been going a year. Goats are tricky I think!

Great collage. There's a goat farm near us and every time I drive past I think I'd like to visit and take some photos.

Super collage - goats are great - affectionate, intelligent and full of character, but then so are cows.
