Yesterday on our way home we called into the Whangarei Waterfalls.. the track takes you through a nice bit of Native Bush and on the base of one of the tree's were these tiny wee fungi.. If any one knows the proper name of them I would much appreciate it..
Beautiful fungi Julia and well seen and captured. I have photographed fungi in the past and never seem to be able to identify them. Nothing ever seems to look like the photo that I have taken. I find it rather frustrating.
Well seen and an example of some pretty fungi. I think this image would benefit by being cropped removing some from the top and bottom but also on the right. You can probably Google to find the name of them!
My bet is they are a Mycena species. I googled "Mycena New Zealand", and results are interesting. Sometimes Australia and NZ share the same fungi, but not always. Also, some fungi can go several years without sending up these fruiting bodies we call mushrooms. So who knows, perhaps you have discovered a new species. Lovely picture of them in any case.
