Today we attended the Auction of a team of Clydesdale's, that have been a common site around the district for years at any of the local shows, and parades.. I have seen them used for a Funeral and they had a stint up in Devonport ( Auckland NZ) to give the City folk at taste of the country every Sunday..
Their owner and Master died a few months back and the search has been on to find someone that will keep the team together. The team of 3 has gone to a buyer in Rotorua and they will be used to pull Tourist around.. 3 others were sold to individual buyers.. The Photo on the lower right made me a bit sad to see the swing tag on him..
I agree Julia, the swing tag, does look sad. I had a sort of aunt when I was little, who used to let me ride on the back of one of her Clydesdales when I visited. Lovely horses.
The shots are beautiful but the story bears sadness . Sadness that the owner died and these beautiful horses will be separated to an unknown and perhaps lonely lives !
This brings a tear to the eye....do hope these magnificent horses are happy in their new homes. They must wonder where their old master has gone, must have been a very interesting sale!
Beautiful collage of magnificent Clydes. A bitter sweet commentary in that all but one are going to good homes even if they are to be split up.
So sorry about the one - I'm sure he deserved better.
@farmreporter They have all gone to good homes Wendy.. all the animals and implements had the swing tag number/name on them .. I just thought it looked a bit sad.
So sorry - I misunderstood. I thought you meant that a swing number meant he was going for slaughter. What is a swing number?
Is it what we call an auction number?
