Tui Singing in the cherry tree... by julzmaioro

Tui Singing in the cherry tree...

As we walked through the park yesterday the Tui's were very busy in the cherry tree's .. they seemed to be playing 'chassy'.. The Tui is sometimes called 'The Parson bird' .. due to the two feathers on it's throat.. They also have a very distinct bird song and I will include a You tube clip of one singing .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucvO-gphZng
Lovely clear shot. I do enjoy seeing the Tui's when we're back in NZ. We have noisy squirrels here. What a racket they make!

Definitely the first time I have seen a Tui, very unusual feather under its throat. Beautiful capture against the blue background. Fav

@elkereturns apparently he has two voice boxes so that is why he had such a varied range of sound .

Such lovely white tassels under the chin! Our last dog was called Tui & she had white blobs under her cin. Lots of tassels here from bird & blossom! Looks a lovely spring day. He does look rather like a parson, never heard that before!
