Onion Farming.. by julzmaioro

Onion Farming..

This weekend we had some heavy rain forecast, but we certainly did not expect the rain that we got. We are ok as our farm is on high ground but we look down on very flooded flats, which is devastating for the farmers there. One friend has had flood water's not only cover almost all of their farm but also came into their house.
I had to go to get groceries today and go past the market garden which are just in the process in harvesting their crops. The onions have been pulled and then they leave them in rows to dry before they pick and pack them to export them to you. But 8 inches of rain was not in the plan and as you see by my photo they have washed out of the paddock and into the drains some get washed down to the urban street... special delivery..
It's been such a devastating weekend for so many people.

It’s been such incredibly heavy rain and so sad for home owners, farmers and market gardeners who have been badly hit with flood waters.

Sounds as though you have been getting the rain we have had over the last few weeks. Finally feeling like summer this week though with really warm weather

Cool shot, but how awful for those affected farmers. The rain really was something else. Am glad you're all good.

@phil_howcroft it will be worse in a few days.. The Market garden are having a pretty rough time with their land getting gobbled up with the urban sprawl and the weather..

@shutterbug49 hopefully .. but it is still raining and very humid so not looking good for them, they may rot in the field which would be very smelly..
