the man by kali66

the man

I am no street photographer...I saw a couple of other 'shots' that would have been great for the artist challenge, but that would have entailed shouting 'stop the car' and causing major irritation.
In this case we were stopped, at the service station, so I took a sneaky, glad he didn't see, he didn't look nice.
I do like the way Xavier Miserachs incorporates signs in his photos... and the gritty detail of his surroundings. Neo-realism Greymouth style.
Good capture, very gritty, and his reflection somehow makes it even more menacing, he is possibly a very nice guy!

I really like this Kali. I have only just got around to looking at Miserachs work. This is a very good interpretation.

This is an excellent composition, so atmospheric.

Great capture, love the grittiness to this shot. There's quite a lot to look at here, some great reflections. You could tag this for the bad ass challenge too.

Really love this! All the reflections and shadows and signs add such interest to this gritty street pic.

i agree, so much to look at and take in. gustav flauvert would've had a ball writing about this! awesome capture, kali!

Great capture ! I like the signs surrounding the man ... IMO as I've seen in Miserach's work, he used signs or urban elements to re-inforce or emphasyze an area or subject of the frame. Also he were very aware about playing with bright and dark areas in a black and white visual environment.

Thank you for your contribution :)

Great candid street shot. Was having a look at Miserach's work yesterday eve, fantastic photos

Very impressive! When I was scrolling down the homepage, this didn't just catch my eye, it grabbed and shouted "LOOK AT THIS!" *grin* And that was before I realized you were doing the Artist Challenge. Very well done, @kali66

Every time I look I see something more. And his reflecting in the window is the coolest thing. If you decide to do some more street photography, if only just for the artist challenge, I have the feeling I'd love to see the streets through your eyes.

@barneyone of course you could be right, it was his mate who was the more surly looking, but he walked behind a column unaware when I tried to shoot him ! they both had blood curdling graphics on their hoodies... lol
thanks for your supportive comments, always appreciated Rita :)

@adayinmallacoota @summerfield @mzzhope @blueberry1222 @louuncouth all the cool detail like the shadows and reflections were down to chance to be honest, I am not a good on-the-spot thinker, but I agree
March 26th, 2014
@louuncouth thankyou, I see things all the time but when we take our weekly trip to town I am generally with a companion who generally doesn't like to mooch around, I will have to make a solo trip one of these days, but then so much depends on what you chance upon
March 26th, 2014
@bernicrumb thanks Bernie, are you going to join in on this one?
March 26th, 2014
@jborrases thanks for the feedback @jborrases i did notice his images make the most of dark areas, something to think about next time for sure
March 26th, 2014
@kali66 I'm not sure yet. It depends on my workload and whether I can get out to shoot photos during daylight hours or not. If all works out, I hope to at least make an attempt.
