RSPB garden bird count

We live on a housing estate near a busy road, but fortunately still have a 'green lane' that backs onto our garden so we get plenty of birds all year round. We have at least 6 feeders on the go in a tree near the house and near some shrubs. The blackbirds, dunnock, robin and wren seem to live in the garden, but the tits and finches fly in, feed, then fly off further down the lane. The nuthatches seem to be taking over a bird box on the house but the sparrows always seem to disappear for the winter and only return in the summer. I've not seen a starling for years. The male blackcap I see every day - but not a female. As for the goldfinches and longtailed tits - I see them all the time. Huge flocks this year and trying to count them before they fly off is sometimes difficult as they perch waiting to get to the feeders. We are fortunate to have our dining table in the kitchen where we can sit and look out over the garden and watch the birds at various times of the day.
What a fabulous bird count. The birds in my garden are usually plentiful but have gone into hiding at the time that I am doing the bird count.

Sounds like an ambitious project when thinking about how quickly most of these birds dart around. Love seeing all those birds on the feeder!
