I had never been to Ilfracombe before and didn't quite know what to expect. I was impressed with the geology at the beach accessed through tunnels cut into the cliffs. I spent ages photographing the rock formations, crustations, seaweed and rock pools. The small harbour was interesting and I wasn't expecting the huge sculpture ('Verity') by Damian Hirst either! The only down side to the day was the long walk back up very steep roads to where we had parked the car!
