Ghosts of Rails Past

I wanted to do something with shapes today, so I headed back to my favorite spot near the Barrington River Bridge. The first set of shots I took was - while interesting - not quite what I wanted. For the full effect, I'll have to lie flat on the ground, and that's just not possible while wearing my business casual work clothes! So we'll come back to that subject later and you'll see it posted sometime in the future.

After learning the hard way that my original intent wouldn't work today, I walked up onto the East Bay Bike Path and spotted this beautiful wooden post fence. What made the shot for me, though, was the shadow created along the side of the fence. You see, this bike path was built along an old rail line, and the shadow truly resembles a set of railroad tracks. I loved the concept and the statement it made.

Post processing started out with a color pop filter in Topaz Adjust. From there I used the poster lines filter in Photoshop to turn this into more of an artists rendering than a photo. A canvas texture background texture was added, as was a warming filter. A slight levels adjustment completed the image.
great capture and POV. great job capturing lines.. looks well planned
