Journey's End. After 3-years - 1096 consecutive days, starting January 1, 2012 - this "Photo a Day" project has come to a close. There are no gaps and no fillers in the project. It has been an amazing journey, and it's one I strongly recommend for anyone interested in photography. My first "Photo-a-Day" adventure was in 2006, and a second one ran through 2009. This, however, was the first time I've ever attempted to complete three consecutive years without skipping a day. It's definitely time for a break. Whether or not I'll start another project in 2016 (after taking a year off) remains to be seen, but you never know. Photography gets in your blood, so I've little doubt that the project, in some form, will be back.
For the final photo in the project, it seemed natural to do a selfie. They are extremely rare for me, but it seemed fitting. It also made sense to take the photo at one of my favorite locations: Lincoln Woods State Park. It was cold - only about 28° F - but there was no wind and the sun was shining. For the last day of the year, it's gorgeous weather.
For those whose projects I've been following, rest assured that I'll still be on the site, and will still be watching your progress through the next year. In the meantime, here's wishing all of my 365 Project friends a very Happy New Year.
Post processing started with a neutral filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, protect highlights, and protect shadows. A levels adjustment and a b&w gradient map at 40% opacity were added in PSE.
