Opportunity Knocks

I went out at lunch as usual for today's photo, and unlike a lot of days, I actually had a specific target it mind. I arrived, and spent about 20 minutes taking a bunch of shots from different angles, and with different settings. In fact, I was quite pleased with the results. Then on my way home, I spotted the photo you see before you. The shadows of the tree were perfect, and I decided to follow my gut and take the shot. I wasn't going to trust that this opportunity would present itself a second time. It's a very simple composition, but I just love the contrast. The building is a very small unmarked church on Douglas Avenue. I'll likely take a few different shots of the building over time, but this composition was too good to pass up.

Post processing was extremely simple. I ran it through a photo pop filter to emphasize color and texture, then performed a high pass filter with a soft light blend mode to sharpen the cinder blocks. A slight levels adjustment improved the contrast. That was it. Very simple and to the point, today.
Fun play of shadow, shapes and textures.
