The town of Barrington in Rhode Island's East Bay is one of the older communities in the state. What virtually every visitor to the East Bay notices is this historic Town Hall set in the center of Barrington along Route 114. Built in 1888 for a mere $17,000 the building once held the town offices plus the local high school. The towers give it a castle-like appearance and are reminiscent of the Queen Anne style of the late Victorian Period.
I shot this from a number of different angles, but finally settled on this one. Other angles showed the entire structure, but this one seemed the most intimate and dynamic. I opted to go black and white again to maintain the purity of the building without the distraction of the color in the blooming trees. The sky was a washed out overcast grey, so that seemed to work well with the black and white, too.
For post processing, I kept it traditional. A detail medium filter in Topaz Adjust brought out the details in the stonework. A black and white gradient map in color blend mode provided the black and white conversion. A levels adjustment was added followed by a sepia photo filter.
