The Occupy Providence movement returned to the downcity area this week, setting up across the street from the Rhode Island Convention Center. The Netroots Nation held a three day conference for liberal political activists and bloggers. Occupy Providence selected the Convention Center for this weeks demonstration in support of Netroots Nation.
Today's photo shows a supporting signing a petition against any bailout of the now defunct 38 Studios. The company had received $75 million in loan guarantees from the state, but with yesterday's Chapter 7 filing, the tax payers of the state are now on the hook for that $75 million plus interest on the bonds. It's estimated that the state will ultimately be liable for about $150 million. The Occupy group has latched onto 38 Studios as a local poster child for Wall Street bailouts (although the company was not publicly traded.)
