Waiting for the Weekend

At only 1,214 square miles, The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is by far the smallest state in the union. It measures only 37 miles (60 KM) wide by 48 miles (77 KM) long. Despite those dimensions, the state actually has over 400 miles of coastline, thanks in no small part to the Wisconsin Glacier. Summers in the state are quite warm (at least by New England standards) and boating is a popular activity. With that much coastline, numerous marinas dot the landscape. (I stopped counting in the high double digits with no end in sight.) The scenic spot in today's photo is the Barrington River, separating Barrington on the right from Warren on the left. The mariner in the shot is in Warren. This river is tidal and salty, so the boats in this image are typically in the water year-round.

Post processing was minimal. I applied a highlight recovery filter in Topaz Adjust, primarily to deepen the contrast, and then adjusted the levels slightly in PSE. Nothing else was touched in the image.
Lovely shot.
