Why Fly When You Can Run by kannafoot

Why Fly When You Can Run

I stopped at Willett Pond in East Providence today, intending to get a shot of all the algae growing in the pond, coupled with some interesting trees that overhang the banks. While shooting, I heard a racket that sounded like a helicopter taking off. What I saw was this mute swan sprinting across the top of the water, leaving those high splashes in his wake. He actually ran over 100 yards across the surface of that pond. Not being fluent in Swan, I was unable to ask him why he chose to run when he could have easily flown.

Post processing was all in Topaz Adjust. I applied a detail light photo as a base point. From there I adjusted the contrast and brightness sliders (to darken the image a bit) and then adjusted strength, detail boost, and sharpen.
That is funny seeing the swan run! Maybe he was chasing a snack!
