I swung by Goat Island in Newport this afternoon for today's photo. Just as I found a spot to park - quite the challenge in Newport in the summer - I spotted these two kayakers paddling through the harbor. That's the Goat Island Lighthouse in the background, and one of the many charter sailboats moored behind the paddlers. It was a beautiful, warm, calm day out on the bay, so Newport was absolutely packed.
Post processing started with a contrast pop filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted the adaptive exposure, contrast, strength, detail boost, and adaptive saturation filters. I applied a heavy noise reduction filter as well since, for some reason, that combination of sliders produced a ton of noise in the sky. In PSE I applied a levels adjustment and a deep blue photo filter in color blend mode.
Bet the kayakers felt dwarfed by that sailboat! Four of four riends bought kayaks this week and they took them out today ... one returned with a broken toe, but they had a great time!
