Historical markers have been disappearing at an alarming rate throughout the state. Thieves have been prying the bronze plaques off anything that's accessible and selling them to local scrap yards. That these plaques are being stolen from high traffic locations and the thefts are going unchecked suggests there's a bit of corruption involved. This location is a prime example. It's on busy South Main Street in Providence, right at the entrance to the Roger Williams National Memorial. The intersection not 100 yards north of this marker is busy at all hours. The plaques on both sides of this marker were stolen. Today's photo shows a couple of workers making repairs to the granite base, hopefully in preparation for the installation of another plaque. Let's just hope that the new plaque will be tamper proof, or made of a material that has no value if stolen.
Post processing started with a warm tone I filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, boost black, boost white, regions, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment and a sepia photo filter were added in PSE.
