Across the Tracks

Cumberland, Rhode Island
Old mills dot the Rhode Island landscape thanks to the state's leadership in the American Industrial Revolution through the 18th and 19th centuries. Many, including this one, have been turned into apartment complexes, but the exteriors maintain that old mill feeling. Naturally, when rail dominated the transportation industry, tracks serviced almost all of the mills in the area. In Rhode Island, the Providence and Worcester Railroad still provides heavy rail service to many of the state's industrial complexes. The tracks shown here are part of the P&W RR network.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
@justaspark Thanks, Jule! I'm not sure how well this would have worked if the guy hadn't walked into the scene. (I just wish I could be here when a train comes through! That's the setup I really want.)
