I've commented on several occasions that a major component of street photography is the ability to meet interesting people that you would otherwise never encounter. That was my experience again today. I was using my 100mm lens, which is rare for me when doing street photography. I do it every now and then, though, just to stay in practice. Walking towards Kennedy Plaza, I noticed this background and thought it would work very well for a street scene. The only problem was, nobody was walking up that side of the street, and with the long lens, this was about the only place I could stand for this composition to work. Enter Jamal. He was walking up my side of the street heading towards the train station, and he noticed my camera. I just shook my head and laughed, "I've been waiting 20 minutes for someone to walk up those steps." He took that in stride, and simply offered to walk up the steps. He paused in several spots, allowing me time to get various photos in stages, and all he wanted in return was a copy of the photo I used for this project. Another very rewarding street photography outing is now in the books.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Love the cityscape and Jamal gives a sense of scale. Cool story too :-)

@flauschigerkeks Thanks, Nina! Was a fun street photography session.

@tryingforsighs Thanks, Rachel! I love that section of Providence. Most of the buildings are early 19th century, so you get a nice feel for the historic aspect of the city.
