Folly, Thou Conquerest

While walking through Kennedy Plaza, which, up until this week, was the transportation hub for the state, I was immediately reminded of my favorite quote from the play, Maid of Orleans. "Folly, thou conquest, and I must Yield. Against stupidity, the very gods themselves contend in vain." How fitting, against the backdrop of this construction farce. The Transportation Center at Kennedy Plaza was completely rebuilt about a decade ago. It centralized all of the major transportation points with RIPTA (the state's public bus system,) Peter Pan Bus, and several other long-distance bus lines all relocating to this single location. It's also a very short walk from here to the Amtrak train station. What the city has decided to do, however, is to decentralize those bus stops again, and rebuild the area to make it "more pedestrian friendly." Mind you, there's no pedestrian problem to begin with, having the bus stops all centralized in one spot significantly improved the use of RIPTA, especially for work-day commuters on a tight schedule. Decentralizing it again makes sense only to those lining their pockets from yet another unnecessary construction project. Then again, it's precisely the level of incompetence I've come to expect from a political crew that would appear to consider being sent to a federal prison part of their retirement plan.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, details, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Ah, sounds quite bothersome Ron! Sometimes money should be spent where it is actually needed rather then where it is not of much use! Great shot though x
