Foster, Rhode Island

My Sunday Brunch Meetup Group went to brunch at the Foster Country Club this morning. For those not familiar with Rhode Island, Foster is about as far out into "the sticks" as you can get. It's primarily all farmland or woodlands, with "Foster Center" comprising a handful of late 18th century buildings and a one-room schoolhouse. I was not surprised to find my trip delayed for a few minutes waiting for a large flock of quail to cross one of the back roads leading to the Country Club. Unfortunately, there was no safe place to pull over for a photo, and I thought the opportunity lost. Heading home a couple of hours later, though, I spotted the same flock of quail hanging around next to this horse trailer and this time there was an area where I could pull over. It was certainly nice of the birds to stay in the area while I enjoyed brunch!

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-DTTKPzm/0/XL/2014%2009%2021_0002%20copy-XL.jpg
What luck to have come across them again! A wonderful photo Ron, they must've known you would come back and decided to stay behind for their photo-shoot! :)
