Winter is Coming

Okay, admit it. How many of you read that title using Ned Stark's voice? Well, regardless of who's seated on the Iron Throne, winter is indeed coming as you can clearly see in today's photo. A cold north wind brought the first flakes of the season to Rhode Island. There was no accumulation here, of course (although they are repeatedly plowing the field at Gillette Stadium just 30 minutes north of here in preparation for this afternoon's Patriots vs Broncos game. For today's photo, I visited Lincoln Woods State Park, hoping to capture the flakes over the water against a nice backdrop of trees. The visibility over the lake was better than I'd hoped, but this still worked as planned.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment and a contrast adjustment were added in PSE.
