Future National Park
13 December 2014 -- 347/365
Pawtucket, Rhode Island
Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) introduced The Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park Establishment Act to define six locations along the Blackstone River National Historic Corridor as a National Park. The measure was also introduced in the Senate by Jack Reed (D-RI). The House passed the measure on December 4th, and yesterday by a vote of 89-11 it passed in the Senate. The bill now goes to President Obama where he is expected to sign it without opposition. Today's photo shows site #5 in the new Park: Slater Mill, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in North America. This will be the first National Park to be created in Rhode Island. We do have the Roger Williams National Memorial in Providence, but this will be the first Park.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
