This is a very common bird in Kansas. However, as I drove home from work on this country road, I just loved the ambience of the tall grasses that accompanied him. Enlarge for better appreciation. Thanks for stopping by. :)
Wonderful composition and a very lovely bird indeed, it might be common in Kansas but its looks very unusual from my point of view, since we don't have them here
Love the color and detail. Very cool shot of the blackbird. Love the grasses and movement captured, too. I'd have maybe cropped off one side or the other to make the birdie less centered, though.
@khirsch@valanne Thanks, Karin and Valerie. @amandal Thanks for your input, Amanda. Yes, I thought about the cropping issue as well, as I normally don't center things like that. I just couldn't give up part of the grasses on the left side. Sigh . . . :)
Very excited to find this shot of yours for two reasons. First, the red-winged blackbird is my favorite bird; it never fails to give me a thrill when I see a male with that flash of red. Second, so far on 365 you're the closest geographically to me (Manhattan). So cool to see someone else photographing the Flint Hills and other KS scenes. Following you now.
