This is a koala in the wild. Bertha has a joey in pouch but doesn't seem to think it's a problem to squish her belly flat against this branch in order to reach the outer leaves. What you can't see in this photo is how much the wind was blowing and she was swaying about wildly and is at least 35 metres up off the ground.
@thresheg@beryl@kchuk@ziggy77@amandal@tonygig@salza@pixiemac made my heart skip a few beats watching her Elyse!
they must view the world very differently and I guess joey's must be pretty tough, we haven't seen this joey peeking out yet ... thanks for enjoying!
@888rachel Rachel I've only personally seen one fall, but that was when 2 males were fighting and the actual tree branch broke and they all came down. Thankfully it was only a couple of metres off the ground and they weren't hurt from the fall I presume as they kept fighting!
@congaree John they feed only on a few species - in the area I live in their primary food trees are the Forest Red Gum, Tallowwood and Swamp Mahogany which are all eucalypts. There are about a dozen other eucalypts they will eat a little of occasionally.

thanks for enjoying everyone. they get up to some scary antics, particularly when the wind is blowing :)
