@louannwarren Ash is pretty grey, but sometimes golden light, and the colour of bark around them can change the tones slightly. some others here are quite dark and into brown shades :)
@pej2 koalas are wild animals, they can cause pretty impressive injuries with teeth and claws :) the ones you see being in zoos were hand raised, and are usually sedated to cope with public doing this as it stresses them terribly.
@shutterbug49 2 great observations - can they get fat on leaf, is it all fur? Koalas carry pretty much ZERO body fat amongst their muscles - without being gruesome, honestly without their skin they are muscle and nothing else. So it's all body shape and yes, a very thick luxurious coat of fur. Sadly those pelts were so highly prized it was the first thing that nearly wiped them out.
However, they look really rounded in the belly if they are eating well because those little bodies hold a full TWO metres of caecum (in us that is the little appendix). It is a long, thick, bacterial vat that digests all that leaf for them. So a healthy koala has big pot belly because of a huge digestive system that puts them to sleep while it works :)
