I was in Cobh this morning, and this cruise ship must have arrived during the night. It dwarfed the buildings of the waterfront. Before Independence Cobh was a British naval base and was called Queenstown. Its history is also tied to the transatlantic liners, for it was a stopping point for the Cunard/White Star Line, and was the last port of call of the Titanic, and the port where the survivors and bodies of the victims of the Lusitania sinking were brought.
@jack4john Rebel county indeed. I am off to Clonakilty tomorrow, famous as the birthplace of Michael Collins, as well as spiritual home of the Irish black pudding. Then I am taking my 'cursed English spleen' to Skibbereen.
